Edamame

Edamame is a preparation of immature soybeans in the pod.
The pods are boiled in water  with salt, and served whole.

We eat the beans inside, not the pod.
You may need some skill to push the beans out !

Natto

Natto on the hot rice

Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from soy beans fermented with Bacillus subtilis.
It is health-enhancing,
an extract from nattō containing nattokinase is available as a dietary supplement.
Nattō contains large amounts of vitamin K.
